Basement Finishing

We are currently not offering basement finishing or remodeling.

Basement finishing differs from a basement remodel in that a remodel usually has some level of finishing already incorporated such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing etc. Normally basement finishing is considered to be starting from scratch. In a modern home built in the last 20-30 years this isn’t as scratch as a home built before the 1970’s. This is because most home built in the last 20 or so years usually have facilities for electrical, HVAC and plumbing more easily (affordably) accessible.
Still, though, starting from scratch is always ideal in a basement finishing project. This allows for proper and cost-effective design bones that support and conform to the homeowner’s design goals. We can likely shave thousands off your project’s cost, while ensuring the proper structure upon which to stage your new ideas. Let us bring our technical expertise to the table in the scope of creating your vision.

Purpose and Use
Probably the surest way to reach maximum satisfaction with a basement finishing (and remodeling) project is to approach the project form the standpoint of purpose. Kid’s play room? Gonna want a bathroom. Entertaining guests? Gonna want at least a wet bar. In-law suite? Gonna need that full kitchen. Defining purpose is a sure way to receive the best level of use and bang for the buck long term so consider this carefully before the bidding stages.

Location and Budget
Once the purpose has been neatly defined the location of the finished area within the basement is the next step. Consider; the less finished area the less cost, and most basements still require some storage area that for many homeowners can be an unfinished area yet still with proper electric and ventilation.
Our inspectors will always look for potential water and mold issues that could later arise and will sometimes recommend locations as a mixture of factors to both ease cost and to prevent these pesky problems.
